A Fun-Filled Family Day at South Farm in Panglao, Bohol

If you’re looking for a perfect family getaway surrounded by nature and adorable animals, South Farm in Panglao, Bohol, is the place to be! Our recent visit to this charming farm was filled with exciting activities, beautiful scenery, and unforgettable experiences. Here’s a glimpse of our adventure.

Getting to South Farm

Finding South Farm was easy. It is located near Oceanica, which shares the same owner. As we followed the signs leading to the farm, we were greeted by rows of lush bamboo trees, setting the tone for a relaxing and nature-filled experience. Upon reaching the parking area, we could already feel the fresh and calming ambiance of the farm.

Exploring the Farm

Once we settled in, we paid the entrance fee, which included a consumable amount for their restaurant. We then started our walking tour around the farm, and to our delight, we noticed that many areas had been developed since our last visit.

Our kids immediately ran to the playground, where they had a blast. Meanwhile, I took a stroll around the Artisan’s Village, where I discovered beautifully handcrafted products such as baskets, pots, and wooden furniture. It was fascinating to see how these materials are made, possibly for the Alturas Group of Companies, which owns the farm and several malls in Bohol.

For adventure seekers, there is an area dedicated to extreme activities, perfect for team-building exercises. We also spotted a section for Muay Thai training, although it was empty during our visit. Nearby, we found a pizza-making area, though there were no activities scheduled that day.

Animal Encounters

The highlight of our trip was the animal encounters! The kids were overjoyed when we reached the animal area. We started by feeding guinea pigs, which eagerly munched on banana leaves. Next, we visited the rabbit enclosure, where we got to walk inside and feed the rabbits. The parakeets were another exciting stop – we even had the chance to feed them inside a large cage, and they happily perched on our arms!

The farm is home to a variety of animals, including tortoises, goats, horses, sheep, wild pigs, and turkeys. The kids were thrilled every time they saw a new animal, and they even got to feed the tortoises and sheep. The goats were quite large, which made the little ones a bit nervous, but overall, it was an enriching experience.

Beautiful Nature and Farming Areas

As we continued exploring, we came across plantation areas, greenhouses filled with lettuce, and a variety of plants. The farm ensures cleanliness by providing handwashing stations and well-maintained comfort rooms, making the visit even more enjoyable.

Fishing and Lunch at Prawn Farm

Our tour ended at a beautiful pond filled with milkfish (bangus), with another nearby pond stocked with tilapia. It was the perfect spot for picture-taking and soaking in the peaceful scenery.

For lunch, we dined at Prawn Farm Restaurant, located near the ponds. We chose a cozy hut where we enjoyed delicious food while watching ducks swim and birds fly around. The sound of the water from the pond sprinklers made the experience even more serene.

After lunch, the kids were eager to try fishing for tilapia. According to the farm’s policy, any fish you catch is considered sold. We were hoping they’d catch smaller fish, but one of our kids reeled in a tilapia weighing over a kilo! It was a thrilling moment and an experience they will never forget.
