4th Hugna sa Mugna: Furniture and Accessories Exhibit

Boholano students are now proving to be one of the sources of new innovations. Bohol Island State University students of BS Industrial Design are making a big leap of their career with the furniture and accessories exhibit at BQ Mall Atrium. These students may just have to be new on their chosen field but they have already proven a lot based on their outputs. If you want to witness how they were able to learn at school and prepared to face the realities of their chosen career, you can look at their ongoing showcase of outputs at the exhibit.

The exhibit of the BS Industrial Design students of BISU Tagbilaran is entitled as “4 Hugna sa Mugna: The New Innovations”. The furniture and accessories exhibit is being held at BQ Mall Atrium from February 26 to 28, 2015. This is already the 4th year of showing various outputs that showcased the creativity of the students.

The 3-day exhibit promised to be full-packed with various activities. The exhibit started with an opening program last February 26. The opening program has been graced by the presence of SUC President Dr. Elpidio Magante, Dean of Engineering and Architecture Dr. Zina D. Sayson and the keynote speaker, Engr. Dalareich Polot. The 2nd day of the event will be BIDA (Bohol Industrial Designer’s Association) Day. The highlight of the day will be the search for BIDA Ambassadors. On its 3rd day, the closing program and awarding ceremony will be conducted still at BQ Mall Atrium.

When I was able to visit the exhibit on its opening day at BQ Mall, I was amazed with the unique and beautiful designs. The exhibit has been divided into 4 different areas. The first area is OJT outputs area which showcases the projects of the previous OJTs in BISU. The 2nd area is the BIDA outputs area which showcases various miniature designs. The 3rd area is Thesis outputs area which I think is the output of the graduating students. The last area is the Fablab Outputs area which showcases the products created at BISU Fablab.

It is an organization built by the Industrial Design (a four-year course which is the first to be offered in Bohol) students of Bohol Island State University. Its acronym word BIDA means “Bohol Industrial Designers Association”. Its goal is to foster school wide interest in intellectual enhancement and promote fellowship among its members, as well as to stimulate a consciousness for the ethical standards of Industrial Design profession.

The members of BIDA may be few but it doesn’t hinder the organization to stand out. In relation with this, they have conducted activities that expose their design skills such as their once in a year exhibit and workshops.

BIDA has a heart that they have conducted activities, programs, and even projects for the recent earthquake victims. In which it further proves that BIDA is not just an organization for self improvement in design skills but also an organization with a helping hand.
