Japanese Actress, Sayaka Akimoto, in Bohol

Last June 20th 2014, Philippine Department of Tourism has appointed the actress, Ms. Sayaka Akimoto, formerly known as the member of AKB48 to be the Tourism Goodwill Ambassador for the Philippines.

Sayaka Akimoto is a Japanese idol singer, dancer, actress, television host, and model. She is best known as being a member of the Japanese idol girl group AKB48, where she had served as the captain of Team K and has also been involved in the AKB48 sub-unit Diva.

She expressed her happiness for being appointed as a Goodwill Ambassador for Tourism in the Philippines on her blog. According to her, she will do her best to show to the people of Japan the charm of the Philippines and how kind the people are.

Last July, Sayaka Akimoto visited the Philippines together with her mother, Shinoda Mariko and Kenichi Saito. They visited the hometown of her mother, Camotes Island. For Sayaka, Philippines is her second hometown because she came home to her mother’s home every year when she was still a child. Bohol was included on their recent trip in the Philippines. They had a wonderful experience with the tarsiers in Loboc and the beautiful sceneries in Carmen’s Chocolate Hills while riding on the bike zipline.
